Tossing myself into the world

Alabama may or may not be a nice place. Although is there anywhere that can be truly claimed as a nice place? These are questions i ask myself while in the process of moving myself to Alabama. Whats it like down there? Does is have something Chicago does not? You may be saying to yourself of course Chicago has something Alabama does not. For instance jobs, business and more urban area.

Many ask "Why do you want to go to Alabama?". My reply to this is "Why wouldn't I want to go there?" There are many things here that i cannot stand anymore such as high prices, friends, relatives and boring or bad memories. Although it may seem like a good idea to move in with a friend and his girlfriend but, is that enough reason to go? Things are so clouded in the future and I hate the feeling. There are a ton of things that could happen while living there and much more getting there. I have decided to drive which we all know is going to be a far drive.

How much money will I need to bring? Will $500 be enough? They have told me that once I get down there there is a job waiting and they can help support me for at least 3 months. This may seem comforting at the moment but is it too good to be true? I can't even begin to think of all the things that can happen in a situation like this. Will they get tried of me or will we all be able to stand each other? The point is I know nothing of Alabama and to fully understand I think I need to go there.

just so you know the basics on what I have to travel there with,
my car is a year 200 Toyota Camry and all it needs is a new fuel filter, oil change, and a new air filter. The car runs great and i think it can make it down there. It also has 151,000 miles on it which is quite a lot although I have yet to seen it have any serious problems since last summer when i got it. I plan to have at least $500 with me to make the trip and I also plan to bring a spare tire along with a flashlight and some blankets.

As a first blog post I don't expect to get many comments but if you are interested in helping please give me your thoughts. Another thing I need an opinion on is what else should I bring along just in case? Combine that with other mentioned questions and give me your advice/suggestions.
